Notes from a year of publishing weekly

Fifty-two issues later, the publication looks very little like the plan we started with. The newsletter got shorter, the essays got longer, and the comments section turned into our best source of ideas.

This is a short account of what worked and what we quietly retired.

What we cut

We dropped the daily roundup, the sponsored column and three of our five recurring sections. Each cut felt risky, and each one made the next issue better.

Next year we are doing less again. If you have thoughts on what to keep, reply to any issue and tell us.
